Welcome to the Weekly Peak with Dr. Craig Chappell
As a physician, it is my job to not only evaluate and treat patients, but also to counsel them in effort to help them achieve optimal health - specifically in my area of expertise which is musculoskeletal medicine. Not too long ago, I had the opportunity … or misfortune (depending on how you look at it) of becoming one of my own patients after doing some yard work and injuring my elbow. While treating my elbow with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), I was severely disappointed to see my plasma thick and cloudy, indicating that I had high cholesterol. I had officially become the patient needing to be counseled to take better care of my body. That experience combined with a few others is what motivated me to begin this blog and start doing The Weekly Peak.
I’ve decided to combine some of my greatest passions and present them all in one place. The Weekly Peak will get me back outdoors more regularly - where I love to be - as I hike a new peak in the great state of Utah each week. While hiking, I will discuss musculoskeletal medicine and teach about common conditions such as tennis elbow and plantar fasciitis. We’ll talk about back pain and joint pain. I’ll explain common injuries and diagnoses that might be causing your pain and teach some exercises that can be done at home to help relieve the pain as well as discuss what treatment options are available. Some weeks I’ll bring a hiking companion who will share thoughts on their area(s) of expertise. I’ll combine my passion for educating others in the world of medicine with my passion for the great outdoors all while practicing what I preach to achieve greater health and get back into a healthier way of living.
Join me each week on my YouTube channel as I bring to you The Weekly Peak!
